“It’s eye candy”: the expert answered why people will not see the promised gigawatt from the government

The expert does not expect the easing of light schedules in connection with the redistribution of consumers by the government / photo UNIAN, Viktor KovalchukUkrainians should not expect a relaxation of blackout schedules due to the redistribution of gigawatts of electricity from critical infrastructure promised by Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko, as the government has not changed the criteria by which consumers are included in the protected list. This opinion was expressed by energy expert Gennadiy Ryabtsev in a comment to UNIAN.

“This is all eye candy. In fact, no one has released anything, since the criteria for entering the list of protected consumers have not changed. The Ministry of Energy has not fulfilled the relevant task: to develop a refined or improved methodology,” the expert noted.

He reminded that the government’s order on the redistribution of electricity for the benefit of the population provided for immediate redistribution of kilowatts from a part of protected consumers to the population within three working days.

“And I don’t know how much time has passed since that order. The date has already passed, there are no specifics. There is already some abstract 1 gigawatt, which will be somehow distributed if someone does something there… You can forget about some gigawatts-megawatts. It is slowly slowing down,” the expert noted.

In this context, Gennady Ryabtsev gave an example of reporting on readiness for the heating season, which is a formality.

“Leaders of territorial communities send letters about readiness for the heating season. 98% readiness for the heating season means that 98% of leaders of territorial communities sent a letter in which they wrote something. No one reads what is written there… Maybe they wrote that they are not ready. Although no one would write such a thing. Nothing is checked on the ground. No research is conducted,” the expert noted.

A similar situation occurred with the distribution of generation, insists Ryabtsev.

“Heads of regional administrations came in front of the bright eyes of the prime minister and told what they are ready to release. How are they ready to release? What are they ready to release, who did they cross out?” – emphasized the specialist.

He drew attention to the fact that the government order does not say that it is necessary to release, for example, 153 MW of capacity and provide a list of disconnected consumers.

“There was no such thing. They just reported at the meeting,” the expert said.

Ryabtsev also mentioned that at first Svyridenko promised to release 800 MW of power for the population, but then this amount “increased” to 1 GW.

“We calculated how much they promised and got this 800. I am convinced that there was not 800 MW, but maybe 751, but they rounded up to 800, and then increased it to a gigawatt,” the specialist concluded.

Blackout in UkraineAs UNIAN reported, on December 9, the government adopted a number of decisions, which, as stated, are aimed at improving the situation with light for people and provide for the reduction of the list of consumers who cannot turn off the light even in conditions of electricity shortage.

However, the director of energy programs of the Razumkov Center, Volodymyr Omelchenko, noted that the implementation of the government initiative will not significantly improve the situation with light for consumers.

After another shelling of the energy system, it is expected that Ukrainians will be without electricity for up to 16 hours a day.
