“We see what is already happening with the Russian economy and what can happen next if the pressure works correctly. We are working in this direction, there must be important steps,” he wrote in a telegram.
On January 29, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Callas, said that the 20th package of sanctions is planned to be adopted on February 24, 2026. The publication Euractiv reported that among the possible measures are a ban on the maintenance of Russian oil tankers, the export of luxury items to Russia, and a reduction in EU quotas for the import of Russian fertilizers. Finland and Sweden took such initiatives.
