The Ministry of Defense plans to complete work on the draft law on the procedure and conditions for the release of servicemen from service by December 18 this year.

This was reported by Roman Kostenko, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, in a comment to “Ukrainian Pravda”

“The committee appealed to the Ministry of Defense with an official request to develop a draft law on determining the procedure and conditions for the dismissal of certain categories of military personnel during martial law.

The other day, a reply was received, which states that according to the MOU plan, the project will be ready by the deadline set by the parliament – by December 18, 2024.”

According to Kostenko, it is currently unknown what mechanisms the Ministry of Defense will propose for the release of servicemen from service.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, answering the question of whether the parliament is going to consider the bill on demobilization, cited the example of the Central Council, and emphasized that demobilization is not carried out during war.

It will be recalled that initially the norm on the demobilization of military personnel was present in the bill on mobilization, which was submitted to the Council this winter. The document proposed demobilizing the military after 36 months of service by decision of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. In this form, the document passed the first reading. But before the second reading, the clause on demobilization was removed from the document. Such a wish was expressed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces in view of the operational situation at the front.
