Ukraine is counting on specific decisions from Western allies that can help in the war with the Russian Federation. This is permission for long-range strikes, the downing of Russian drones and missiles by allies, assistance to the Ukrainian military industry and the supply of air defense systems.
This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga in response to a question from RBC-Ukraine during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok.
“Helping the West, our closest allies, is not about charity, it’s an investment in our common transatlantic security. It is very important that the steps that need to be taken are taken in time. So that we don’t allow the loss of our territories and our people, so that we become self-sufficient in some directions,” Sibiga said.
Therefore, in his opinion, it is important to convert these decisions into concrete positions.
“They are very clear and we bring them to the capitals of our allies every day,” the minister noted.
The first solution, according to Sybiga, is the lifting of any restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons for military purposes on the territory of the Russian Federation. After all, “this is our fair right.”
“The second is the shooting down of Russian drones and missiles over the territory of Ukraine by means of air defense of neighboring states. Russia is provoking and testing the reaction of NATO countries, testing NATO systems. Our proposal and appeal is to finally accept this decision”, – added the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The next decision, according to the minister, is assistance and building up of defense capabilities and the defense industry of Ukraine.
“This has already been heard many times, but I will repeat it: since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has been able to increase its own production of various types of weapons 6 times. It’s also about time and saving allies’ money, because the scaling of our production will help us become stronger and self-sufficient, and will save our allies’ resources,” Sibiga said.
He also emphasized that air defense equipment remains a fundamental priority for Ukraine.
“Air defense means to protect our main cities, to protect our nuclear facilities on the territory of Ukraine. I will remind you that we have evidence that Russia is preparing strikes on nuclear infrastructure facilities, so we must protect them, and the world must react firmly to prevent this,” the foreign minister emphasized.
Earlier, Sybiga appealed to the West because of massive attacks by Russian drones, calling for the lifting of all restrictions for the protection of our country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, reacted to NATO’s statements about the North Korean military in the Russian Federation. He called for the immediate lifting of restrictions on long-range strikes against Russia.
