January 11 Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina defeated Wang Xinyu in the final of the WTA 250 tournament in Auckland (New Zealand) and won the trophy.

Svitolina earned money for winning the title at the New Zealand competition $37,390 and 250 points. Thanks to the championship in Oakland, Elina rose to 12th place in the WTA ranking.

Tournament finalist Wang Xinyu received a check for $22,125 and 163 points.

In addition to Svitolina, another representative of Ukraine – Yulia Starodubtseva – also performed on the Oakland courts. She successfully qualified and was defeated by Katie Boulter in the first round of the main draw. Her prize money was $3,065.
