ISW experts believe that the US decision to suspend the transfer of ammunition to Ukraine, namely critically important missiles for Patriot air defense systems, can have serious consequences not only for the front but also for the civilian population.
According to analysts, the pause in the supply of ammunition to Ukraine will probably make the Armed Forces a lot to save resources, which will weaken the ability to defend themselves against large -scale Russian air attacks.
Such a step of the Pentagon, by the way, contrasts sharply with the stated goal of US President Donald Trump – allegedly reducing the number of casualties among the Ukrainian civilian population.
In addition, ISW points out that such solutions have already had a dramatic effect on the situation on the front earlier. Thus, the temporary suspension of US military assistance in 2023 gave Russia the opportunity to advance in some areas. The new delay can also accelerate Russian successes on the battlefield.
A particularly dangerous consequence in ISW is that such pauses strengthen Vladimir Putin’s perception of the so -called “theory of victory” – that is, the belief that the West will eventually stop support, and Ukraine will not be able to withstand Russian offensive actions.
Analysts emphasize that the key to the weakening of Ukraine’s air defense remains, which protects both military facilities and peaceful cities from constant shelling by Russian missiles and drones. Therefore, delay or reduction of deliveries can directly lead to an increase in the number of victims among civilians.
