Details: Ukrainian strikes on facilities on the territory of Russia can affect offensive operations in the entire theater of operations in Ukraine, if Ukrainian troops have the material base, capabilities and permission to conduct a large-scale campaign of strikes on facilities of logistical support and support on territory of Russia.

Institute analysts recalled that in the summer of 2022, Ukrainian forces carried out a series of HIMARS strikes on Russian ammunition depots throughout occupied Ukraine, which forced Russian troops to disperse ammunition depots and reduced the effectiveness of Russian logistics at the time.

Literally: “Repeated strikes on ammunition depots on the territory of Russia, which will cause damage similar to the strike in Toropka, may force the Russian military command to make a similar decision to reorganize and decentralize support and logistics systems in Russia to mitigate the consequences of such strikes.

Russian forces may not have addressed vulnerabilities at many logistical facilities in Russia because of the cover space created by restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western-provided weapons, even though the Toropka facility is not within range of Western systems, which fired from Ukraine.

The removal of restrictions on the use of Western systems and the further development of Ukraine’s own long-range strike potential may allow Ukrainian forces to more effectively exploit such Russian vulnerabilities.”

More details: ISW also noted that in July 2024, Ukrainian forces struck another Russian ammunition depot near Sergiivka, Voronezh Oblast, and further Ukrainian strikes on Russian warehouses of ammunition and missiles as well can destroy a significant part of Russian material reserves.
