Israel struck the military facilities of the Houthis in Yemen – the IDF

As the IDF stated, “the strikes were carried out in response to the recent attacks by the Houthis on the State of Israel””, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org

On Sunday, September 29, the Israeli Air Force struck the military facilities of the Houthis in Yemen. The distance to the targets was 1,800 km from the State of Israel, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement.

The military notes that “in the course of a large-scale air operation based on intelligence data, dozens of Israeli Air Force planes (fighter jets, refueling planes and reconnaissance planes) struck Houthi military targets. The attacks were carried out directly in the areas of Ras Issa and Hudaydah in Yemen.”

“Among the targets were power plants and an oil import seaport used by the terrorist Houthi regime to deliver Iranian weapons, as well as military supplies and oil, into the region,” it said.

As the IDF stated, “the strikes were carried out in response to the recent Houthi attacks on the State of Israel.”

The Israel Defense Forces said that over the past year, the Houthis have operated under the direction and funding of Iran, as well as in cooperation with Iraqi militias, “to attack the State of Israel, undermine regional stability and violate global freedom of navigation.”

“The IDF intends to continue to act at any distance – near or far – against all threats to the citizens of the State of Israel,” the statement added.

On the night of September 29, the Israel Defense Forces continued to attack the facilities of the radical group “Hezbollah” in the south of Lebanon. As the IDF press service stated, “dozens” of targets were hit, including missile launchers and ammunition depots.

Lebanese media reported on the dead as a result of the Israeli attack.

On the morning of September 29, at least eight rockets were fired from Lebanon at Israel. They fell in a deserted area, no one was injured. In addition, the Israeli military reported that an attack drone launched from the Red Sea was intercepted.

The Israeli army has not announced the possible start of a ground operation in southern Lebanon. However, American sources do not reject this possibility. Currently, significant forces of the IDF, including tanks and armored vehicles, have been drawn up to the Lebanese border. American sources said on September 29 that the IDF may have already begun point operations in the border area of Lebanon.

Hezbollah is both an armed group and a political party that controls much of the Shiite population of southern Lebanon. The United States recognized Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, while the European Union recognized only its paramilitary wing as such, but not the political party. The Hezbollah party is represented in the Lebanese parliament and the country’s government.

After the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel by the radical Hamas group, recognized as a terrorist group in the United States and the European Union, Hezbollah intensified its shelling of the northern part of Israel. Some settlements have been evacuated. In response, Israel began striking Hezbollah positions. On September 27, the IDF destroyed the headquarters of the military wing of Hezbollah with bunker bombs, killing the leader of the organization, Hassan Nasrallah.
