Germany has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which includes two IRIS-T air defense systems, Patriot and 15 Leopard tanks, according to the website of the German Ministry of Defense.
The aid package included the following weapons:
- 15 Leopard 1 A5 tanks;
- two Gepard anti-aircraft guns with spare parts;
- 3 HIMARS rocket launcher systems;
- 30 MRAP armored vehicles with mine protection;
- self-propelled howitzer PzH 2000;
- 12 armored vehicles with kinetic defense systems;
- seven Caracal amphibious vehicles;
- the IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile complex with missiles;
- anti-aircraft missile system IRIS-T SLS;
- two Patriot launchers;
- two TRML-4D radars;
- ammunition for Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks;
- 30 Vector drones, 24 RQ-35 Heidrun drones, 14 Hornet XR drones;
- five self-defense systems of AMPS helicopters;
- 12 Zetros trucks and 8 Zetros gas stations;
- 120 GMW grenade launchers;
- 200 MG4 machine guns;
- 420 MK 556 rifles;
- 80 HLR 338 sniper rifles;
- 100 CR 308 rifles;
- 52,000 155 mm shells;
- AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinde and Sea Sparrow guided missiles;
- 65 thousand ammunition for Gepard installations.
Germany will also provide Ukraine with generators, tents, turnstiles, cartridges for small arms, 120 mm mortar ammunition, mines and demining equipment.
In early December, during his visit to Kyiv, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Berlin would supply Ukraine with the sixth IRIS-T air defense system this month, as well as Patriot launchers and Gepard anti-aircraft guns.
On December 11, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, reported that Germany’s total aid to Ukraine amounted to 37 billion euros. This is the largest among all European countries.
