Detailed characteristics of the system have not been made public.
The publication recalled that the Fajr-5 has four 333 mm caliber guides and can fire at a distance of 68 to 75 kilometers. The rocket weighing 915 kg in the high-explosive version has a warhead weighing 175 kg.
The width of the Strait of Hormuz between the Persian and Oman Gulfs is 55 km. It is the only passage for tankers going from Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, partly Saudi Arabia and the UAE, because of which its mining could have serious consequences, the publication added.
Journalists noted that Iran was able to mine the Strait of Hormuz before, but for this it was necessary to use ships, planes or helicopters. Now, with the help of cruise missiles, Tehran is able to mine the water area in the shortest possible time and conduct covert preparations for the operation.
