Iran has greatly accelerated the construction of a protected underground object near its nuclear complex in Nathang. The analysis of satellite images shows that Tehran has not curtailed its nuclear program, but probably restores it, while strengthening key objects to protect against future air strikes.

Details: According to satellite images, construction work is carried out on an object located in the mountain range of Zagros, about one and a half kilometers south of the nuclear complex in Natanga, which in June was experienced by Israeli and American bombardment.

The publication notes that the exact purpose of the object remains unclear. IAEA inspectors have never visited him, and the CEO of Rafael Grosssey said Iran had rejected his question about this location. According to analysts, underground halls on the “Kirk Mountain” can be located at a depth of 100 meters, which makes them even more protected than the object in Ford.

Although Iran stated in 2020 that the centrifug plant would be located here, the size and depth of the tunnels will be doubtful. In their opinion, the object can serve for secret enrichment of uranium or as a safe storage for uranium stocks close to arms.

According to three experts in Iranian nuclear activities, who analyzed satellite images, three main features of work activation were identified:

• The perimeter of safety has been strengthened (1200 meters of the protective wall have been erected from the end of June and a new road has been laid along it);
• fortified structures at the entrance to the tunnel;
• The volume of the dug breed has increased.

“The presence of dump trucks, trailers and other heavy equipment … testifies to the continuation of construction and expansion of the underground facility,” said Joseph Rogers, an employee of the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

According to the IAEA, before the onset of Israeli strikes on June 13, Iran has accumulated almost 400 kg of uranium, enriched up to 60% of purity, which is only a step up to 90% needed to create nuclear weapons. The location of these stocks remains unknown.
