India and the Republic of South Africa can help in the return of illegally deported Ukrainian children and the establishment of a just and sustainable peace. The head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, said this during an online conversation with representatives of the South African and Indian mass media.
Andriy Yermak noted that India and South Africa took an active part in the meetings regarding the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s Peace Formula, and also noted the importance of the visits to Ukraine by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to him, both leaders were able to see the consequences of the war with their own eyes.
“The participation of your countries in the global peace process and all efforts that help to end Russia’s war against Ukraine and restore a just peace for our state are very important,” said the head of the President’s Office.
Andriy Yermak emphasized that the Russian Federation speaks only in the language of ultimatums, and the Russian dictator wants to continue aggression. That is why Ukraine should have as much support as possible from its partners in order to force Russia to establish a just peace.
“We all want to live in a safe world where it will be impossible to deport thousands of Ukrainian children, create infiltration camps in the 21st century, or attack a children’s hospital in the center of Kyiv. But this is all happening in our country. Today, Putin and Russia want to fight against us. Unfortunately, we see no sign that Putin wants to stop this war. He wants to destroy Ukraine,” said the head of the Office of the Head of State.
According to Andriy Yermak, South Africa has already expressed its readiness to be a mediator in the return of Ukrainian children, and India could join such a group of states. He called on both countries to join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. After all, such a step will demonstrate the leadership of India and South Africa in overcoming global humanitarian crises.
