Donald Trump’s administration proposed to change the system of distribution of international financial assistance by excluding areas that do not meet the geopolitical interests of the United States. About it reports Reuters, which has read this document.

The initiative involves reducing foreign aid costs. The new US Agency Management on International Development (USAID) believes that the current support system of other countries is too wide and is too expensive.

At the proposal of the Trump administration, it is planned to close almost 20 USAID Bureau and change the name of the Agency to the United States Agency for International Humanitarian Aid.

According to Reuters, the updated structure will become part of the State Department and focus only on humanitarian assistance, response to natural disasters, health care in the world and food safety.

The proposal also states that policy -related programs, such as democracy, religious freedom and women’s rights, must be subject to the State Department.

According to Reuters, citing a source, the document is planned to be submitted to the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. It is not yet known whether they approve it and in what format.

Donald Trump suspended foreign aid – what is known

US President Donald Trump signed a decree suspension of international assistance for 90 days on the first day of his return to the White House, on January 20, “to assess compliance with national interests and the goals of American foreign policy.”

On January 27, the public, referring to the USAID press service, said the agency suspended the financing of all programs and projects without exception for 90 days.

According to WP, the Trump administration also sent dozens of high -ranking USAID employees on administrative leave.

USAID supported the projects in more than 100 countries, including Ukraine. The agency financed the restoration of schools, medical services, repair of energy infrastructure, social projects and more.
