Her criminal case is being heard in closed session. This was done to prevent the disclosure of information about her personal and family life, as well as to ensure the safety of the participants in the case.

Some of the witnesses in the case are judges and employees of the Berdyansk City District Court.

It is not known what bail Bogomolova paid to get out of the pretrial detention center – these court decisions have not been made public.

Earlier in September, the court set a bail of 2.4 million hryvnias for Bogomolova as an alternative to detention.

By the end of 2024, all prosecution witnesses had already been questioned. However, the defense filed a motion to summon experts for questioning.

What preceded:

  • According to the SBU, Bogomolova was recruited by the Russian special services in the first days of the full-scale invasion, when she was working as a judge in Berdyansk.
  • She is accused of passing on information to the occupiers about the transfer of three soldiers of the special forces unit “Azov” from Mariupol to the Mangusha district.
  • According to the investigation, it was on Bogomolova’s “tip-off” that the Russians killed three Ukrainian soldiers.
  • Later, Bogomolova left for the territory controlled by Ukraine and in November 2022 she was elected head of the court in Poltava.
  • In May 2023, the judge was taken into custody on suspicion of treason.
  • The judge faces imprisonment for a term of 15 years or for life.
