Dogs were poisoned on the territory of the Pirogov Hospital in Vinnytsia – animal rights activists of the charity organization UAnimals filed a complaint with the police. Law enforcement officers opened a criminal case on suspicion of animal cruelty, but activists demand publicity of the case.

As the animal rights activists point out, Olga Tanaskova, one of the women who took care of the animals, approached them back in September. According to her, four dogs died, but only two bodies were found. Two more animals were saved.

The women who took care of the dogs were recognized as victims, and at their request, the animals’ bodies were dissected.

In social networks, the volunteer reported that the forensic veterinary examination established not only the fact of poisoning, but also that the dogs were brutally beaten.

“We call on the police to conduct a full, comprehensive and impartial pre-trial investigation, collect all the evidence and identify those involved in the commission of the criminal offense.” – noted in UAnimals.

Animal rights activists also emphasize that it is rare to find and punish the guilty in animal poisoning cases, so they ask for maximum publicity.

“Cruelty will decrease only when the law and the police protect animals in action”– animal rights activists claim.

Law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (brutale treatment of animals). Those guilty of crimes against animals face imprisonment for a term of up to six months or restriction of liberty for a term of up to three years.

In turn, Olga Tanaskova turned to to the head of the Vinnytsia District Prosecutor’s Office regarding the case of killing dogs.

The prosecutor assured that he would personally take the case under his control and help ensure that the investigation was carried out objectively and effectively.” noted Olga Tanaskova.
