According to the notification, the time of application and the scope of restrictions will be as follows:
- 6:00 – 7:00 – one round of shutdowns
- 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. — two rounds of shutdowns
- 18:00 – 22:00 – one round of shutdowns
Energy experts warn that during the day the scope of restrictions may be changed, and urge not to turn on several powerful devices at the same time when the lights appear on schedule.
Ukrenergo reminds that the reason for the temporary introduction of restrictions is damage to energy facilities during a massive missile and drone attack on November 17. Emergency recovery works are ongoing.
On the night of November 17, Russian troops launched a massive combined strike against the facilities of the energy sector of Ukraine, using, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 120 missiles and 90 unmanned aerial vehicles.
After that, Prime Minister’s adviser Yuriy Boyko suggested on the air of “Kyiv24” that the situation with electricity can improve in a few days, and it will take weeks to completely abandon blackout schedules.
Recently, there have been no blackout schedules in Ukraine, as was the case in the summer, but with the approach of winter, the Ministry of Energy reminded that rational consumption will help energy companies keep the energy system balanced.
According to the Ministry of Energy, since October 2022, Russia has carried out more than a thousand strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, this year alone 9 GW of generating capacity was lost due to strikes.
Earlier, the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko said that Ukraine is able to go through the winter of 2024-2025 without power outages, if the forces of the Russian Federation do not manage to destroy the critical energy infrastructure facilities that survived the previous attacks.
