Critical infrastructure in cities and communities is provided with backup power sources as much as possible. As of November 1, more than 900 MW of generating capacity has been installed there.
This was announced by the Association of Small Cities of Ukraine.
“Thanks to the joint efforts of local authorities, the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, as well as the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, it was possible to achieve a high level of equipping critical facilities with backup generation in case of power outages. As of November 1, according to the State Energy Inspectorate, more than 900 MW of reserve capacities have been installed at critical infrastructure facilities,” the report says.
These measures are aimed at ensuring uninterrupted operation of facilities that are vital for the functioning of communities in the event of power outages.
In addition, work on the installation and connection of distributed gas generation throughout the country continues.
The support of international financial organizations and donors played an important role in achieving these results. Thanks to their contribution, numerous projects aimed at strengthening the energy security of communities have been implemented.
“The local government is ready to take responsibility and is taking it upon itself. As part of the project “Strengthening the energy resilience of communities” with the support of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in close cooperation with the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Energy, we managed to intensify the preparation of critical infrastructure for possible power outages and distributed generation,” he noted. Pavlo Kozyrev, head of the association.
He also added that as a result of this project, 53 meetings were held in the “Solutions for Communities Supermarket”, in which 378 communities took part. This work continues and does not stop for a moment.
Meanwhile, the Naftogaz group will receive power generating equipment with a capacity of 80 MW, it will be purchased with grant funds from the Norwegian government and with the organizational participation of UNDP.
Kyiv, using the most modern European technologies, restored two-thirds of its own generating capacity, which was attacked by Russia. Work on restoration according to European standards does not stop.
