It is believed that on the day of Radonitsa Christians symbolically share the Easter joy of the resurrection of the Savior with their dead relatives.

The etymologically, the word “Radonnyts” comes from the words “genus” and “joy”, and, a special place of Radonnytsia among church holidays – immediately after the light Easter week – allegedly obliges Christians not to be sad and not complained about the death of loved ones, but, conversely, to enjoy their birth in another life.

The victory over death, obtained by the death and resurrection of Christ, displaces the sadness of temporary separation from relatives.

It was on Radonnytsya that the custom of celebrating Easter on the graves of the deceased. They brought painted eggs and other Easter food, made a funeral meal, and part of the cooked.

Currently, the Orthodox Church does not welcome food to the graves, so before visiting the cemetery, the believers need to come to church before the start of service and submit a note with the names of the deceased for commemoration, and then bring to order the grave of the dead, pray, ignite the candle, and stand silently.
