In the Russian prison, Crimean Tatar prisoner Rustem Veruti died – Majlis

In the prison of the city of Dimitrovgrad of the Ulyanovsk region of the Russian Federation, the Crimean Tatar prisoner Rustem Veruti was killed, reported on March 22 the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people.

It is reported that the Russian occupation forces detained a man in the spring of 2023 after numerous searches in his house in the Genichesky district in Kherson region. He was accused of helping the economic blockade of Crimea, which began in 2015, as well as participation in the Crimean Tatar battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhang.

“As it was possible to install, after the arrest of Rustem Veruti was subjected to numerous tortures and was strongly beaten. All court sessions were in closed mode. After the sentence – 8 years of strict regime – was first taken to Ufa, and then to the correctional colony of the city of Dimitrovgrad of the Ulyanovsk region, from where the news of his death came. The death of prisoners became known to family members of the family on February 10, 2025, but the exact date and reasons for death has not yet been established. The wife and three adult children remained in Rustem, ”the Majlis informs the Crimean Tatar people.
