According to the investigation, Volodymyr Oparin set off a training simulation grenade, as a result of which an explosion occurred and a fire started, 20 people were injured.
The prosecutor’s office said that the cases were initiated under the articles of negligence and abuse of official authority – they were combined into one proceeding. The court sent Oparin under house arrest until March 15.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Komi reported in the morning of January 17 that six victims of the explosion were taken to Moscow. Another 13 wounded are being treated in Syktyvkar.
The explosion occurred in the afternoon of January 15. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Komi reported a “roof fire” during training sessions with personnel, and the Office of the Investigative Committee on Komi reported a “loud sound” in one of the premises of the center.
