As of November 1, 2024, 59% of more than 92,000 refugees between the ages of 15 and 65, who have Ukrainian citizenship, were employed in the Netherlands.

Ukrainian refugees who arrived in the Netherlands after the Russian invasion at the end of February 2022 do not require employment permission. This puts them in exceptional position compared to other migrants from outside the European Union or the countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
Most often, Ukrainian refugees in the age category from 25 to 45 years, the most rare – young people (from 15 to 25 years). Men worked as often as women.
More than half of Ukrainian refugees worked full time (35 hours or more per week); 15% worked from 30 to 35 hours.
Most Ukrainian refugees worked in the field of business services (50%). This sector includes employment agencies. It is often impossible to determine in which sector the temporary workers are sent to. In addition to business services, a relatively large number of Ukrainian refugees also worked in trade, transport and hotel and restaurant sector (32%).
Prehistory:
- The Netherlands government believes that Ukrainians working in the country pay taxes and thus “make the maximum contribution” should be able to stay in the Netherlands longer.
- The Czech Republic can create a return centers to help Ukrainian refugees return home.
