In the Lviv region, the court fined a teacher for drunk driving. However, he himself denies that he sat behind the wheel, although he admits that he did drink on the day of the First Bell.

This is stated in the decision of the Zhovkiv District Court, which Lviv.Media drew attention to.

The event took place on September 2 in the village of Zashkiv, Lviv district. Drager recorded 2.14 ppm of alcohol in the teacher’s blood, which indicates a state of severe intoxication.

However, the man himself denies that he was behind the wheel. Instead, he said that after the First Bell in the village of Artasiv, at the place of his work, he and other teachers and students went to the graves of fallen soldiers who studied at their school. And later, together with another teacher, he drank a bottle of vodka near the school.

After that, the school director came and told the employee that another man who did not drink would take him home to the village of Zashkiv. The teacher claims that he got into his car in the front passenger seat, and this was allegedly seen by both the principal and the math teacher.

On the way, before reaching Zashkov, the car allegedly ran out of gas, and the driver went to the gas station with a canister, and he remained waiting, the teacher claims.

After some time, according to the teacher, he got out of the car and apparently passed out. He only remembers that some passers-by called the police.

The man also explains that when he told the police that he was going home, he meant that he was being driven, not that he was driving.

However, on video recordings examined by the court, the teacher confirmed to the patrol officers several times that he was the driver of the car.

At the same time, the court rejected the lawyer’s request to summon the principal and the math teacher, since the school in Artasov is more than 15 kilometers from the scene of the incident, and it cannot be proven that the driver and passenger did not switch places on the way.

In the end, the judge found the teacher guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 17,000 hryvnias with the suspension of his driving license for one year. In addition, the teacher must pay UAH 606 in court fees. However, the decision can still be challenged through an appeal.
