The DBR employees reported the suspicion to the commander of one of the military units of the Dnipropetrovsk region, who, starting in 2022, forced 5 servicemen to build private houses for their mother and mother-in-law.

Details: It is reported that starting in 2022, five servicemen built houses for the lieutenant colonel’s mother and mother-in-law. They built two two-story cottages from the foundation, and also equipped a barbecue area in one of the houses. In case of refusal to work, the commander threatened the soldiers to send them to the front line in the hottest spots.
According to the investigation, the said servicemen did not formally report for duty for almost three years, but received full monthly allowances, including additional payments for the performance of combat missions. The total amount of damage caused to the state is estimated at 2.5 million hryvnias.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted 12 searches at the places of residence and work of the suspected commander and his subordinates, as well as in the vehicles they used. Payroll documents, uniform information, personnel files, cell phones, and draft records related to construction were seized.
The commander of the military unit was detained, he was charged with 5th century 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (exceeding power or official powers in the conditions of martial law, which caused grave consequences). If found guilty, he faces up to 12 years in prison.
