In Texas 24 people were killed through floods, more than 20 girls from a summer camp disappeared

The missing children visited Camp Mystic, a Christian camp along the Guadalup River in a small Hunt town, there were 750 girls in total.

At a press conference, Sherry Kerr Larry Leita reported that 24 people were killed. The authorities reported that in total 237 people were rescued, 167 of them were helicopters.

Elina Leicester, 13 years old, said she and girlfriends were evacuated by helicopter. The crazy storm awakened them around 1:30 at night, and when rescuers arrived, Leicester said that they tied the rope that the girls were holding on and flood water raged around them.

“The camp was completely destroyed,” the girl said. “The helicopter landed and started picking up people. It was very scary.”

The situation is still developing, and officials have stated that the death toll may change as rescue operations continue for an unspecified number of missing missing.

The authorities are working on identifying the dead.

According to the Meteorologist of the National Service from the office in Austin/San Antonio Bob Fogarty, the river level sensor in Khanta recorded a rise of 22 feet (6.7 meters) in about two hours. The sensor failed after fixing the level of 29.5 feet (9 meters).

“Water is moving so fast that you will not understand how bad everything is to cover you,” Phogarty said.
