In Romania, “traces of a possible drone strike” were discovered – after the night attack of the Russian Federation in Odesa

On January 17, the Romanian military discovered “traces of a possible drone strike” in the Tulc county bordering Ukraine, the Romanian Ministry of National Defense reported this morning, confirming the country’s “violation of airspace”.

The press release of the military department reports that on January 17, the Russian army resumed drone attacks on civilian objects and port infrastructure in Ukraine near the border with Romania.

“Starting at 1:35 in the morning, two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force as part of the combat service of the Air Police took off from the 86th Borc Air Base to monitor the air situation. The plane returned to the base around 3:48 a.m.,” the message reads.

According to the Romanian service of Radio Liberty, Kostel Tenase, a resident of the border village of Plauru, located across the Danube from Ukrainian Izmail, said that he heard the sound of a drone flying over this territory, and that the drone may have fallen in the neighboring village of Petlejanka. It was not possible to further confirm the information of the local resident.

Since September 2023, the residents of the regions of Romania bordering Ukraine have been repeatedly notified of air danger.
