“Complaints received by the agency describe a repetitive picture: a passenger with a backpack approaches the landing, where airline employees ask the passenger to place a backpack in the so -called sizer – a metal frame, which is used to check the dimensions. He qualified as a free hand luggage, now – according to the carrier – it does not meet the requirements, and the consumer is charged a supplement to several hundred zlotys, ” – said in a statement published on the agency’s website.
Passengers also point out that luggage dimensions are carried out in a hurry, without the possibility of reprimanding measurements or using another roulette. At the same time, the refusal to arbitrarily pay the established additional payment, which can only be paid by the card, causes the person to be not allowed on board the aircraft, adds the Polish regulator.
In this regard, the regulator started checking the rules of carriage of hand -carrier by carriers. According to the statement, the Office analyzes the contractual provisions concerning the conditions of transportation of manual luggage, which the information receives when buying a ticket, the procedure for measuring luggage, the rules of accrual of fees, the consequences for passengers in case of non -payment and a way of considering complaints about the established fees.
“According to the practice of the Court of Ukraine, manual luggage – if it does not exceed the reasonable limits of weight and size and does not violate the safety rules – should be considered as an integral part of the service of transportation, which should not be charged an additional fee. Our goal – to check whether the loocaters of this principle are adhered to.”
