In the Polish village of Domosta, unknown people were desected the monument to the victims of the Volyn tragedy. The vandals painted the revolutionary red and black flag of the OUN and left the inscription “Glory of the UPA”, Radio Rzeszów reports.
According to the police officer’s spokeswoman of the Katarzhina Prazalo, the police department, on August 6, the police received a report on damage to the monument. Law enforcement officers work on the spot, the circumstances of the event are established. The monument is supervised – the record shows that the offender came with a bicycle and had a backpack.
It is a monument designed by artist Andrzej Pitinsky. The monument perpetuates the memory of the victim of genocide on the eastern border lands. In the center of the monument is a carved cross with trident pitchforks, which planted the baby’s body. The local authorities said that before the opening of the monument, he was warned of possible acts of sabotage, but since the opening it was the first case of vandalism.
