According to the investigation, the traitor was gathering intelligence for the Russian occupiers. To help the enemy bypass the Ukrainian air defense system, the man tried to identify the combat positions of anti-aircraft missile systems and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces. For surveillance, the agent installed a hidden camera in the attic of the high-rise building where he lived and recorded the work of the Ukrainian air defense during air alarms.
In addition, the spy monitored the movement of military equipment and types of weapons that were headed for the southern front. He passed the collected information to his “curator” – Serhiy Lebedev, known under the pseudonym ” shaggy » who is hiding in the occupied territory of Donetsk and cooperates with the FSB and military intelligence of the Russian Federation. .
SBU operatives detained the agent in November 2024 at his place of residence. During the searches, a smartphone, a camera and a flash drive with evidence of espionage activity were seized. Thanks to the previous measures of the SBU, it was possible to avoid casualties among the Ukrainian military.
The court found the man guilty of treason committed under martial law and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Earlier, according to the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police, an FSB agent who committed sabotage in the Volyn and Lviv regions was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
