On the night of December 13, Mykolaiv and its region were subjected to one of the largest attacks during the war.
According to the mayor Oleksandr Sienkovych, the shelling caused serious damage to the industrial infrastructure and residential areas, as a result of which at least several people were injured.
Huge areas were left without electricity, and the blackout also affected settlements in the Bashtan and Mykolaiv districts.
The Mykolaiv thermal power plant was promptly started, and 45 district boiler houses were switched to generators, which made it possible to provide heat to 85% of consumers. Utility services also ensured the restoration of water supply. Invincibility points were activated in the city, which gave people the opportunity to warm up, charge their devices and get water.
As of this morning, power has started to be restored in some areas, although full restoration still takes time.
This shelling became part of a larger-scale attack on the territory of Odesa region, where Russian troops used a wide range of weapons.
This activity of the enemy indicates the continuation of aggression against Ukraine, which causes concern among the local leadership and the civilian population. Further actions of the authorities are aimed at restoring critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of citizens.
