In the Lviv region, a two-year-old boy died due to critical neglect by his parents. Law enforcement officers detained the child’s mother and father, and criminal proceedings were opened against the social service workers who were supposed to take care of the family.

Previously, the boy’s godfather drew attention to his poor health and took the child to Mostyska Hospital in the afternoon on February 9. Despite the critical condition, the parents themselves did not call the doctors. The boy was hospitalized in the intensive care unit, but he died about an hour later.
According to the preliminary conclusions of the doctors, the child had hypothermia, dehydration and critical underweight. The children’s living conditions did not meet sanitary standards and posed a health hazard: the temperature in the room was only 11 degrees, there was no heating.
The family had four more children aged 4 to 10, as well as a 5-year-old son. They were temporarily placed in a hospital, later they will all be transferred to a specialized facility.
Both parents were notified of the suspicion under Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (malicious non-fulfilment of child care obligations), and social service workers – under Part 3 of Art.
