Former and current officials of the Lviv City Council are suspected of embezzling almost UAH 4 million during the overhaul of a children’s health camp in the Carpathians.

Among the suspects are a former department head of one of the city council’s departments, a director of a children’s out-of-town health and recreation facility, a leading economist of the city council’s administration, and the head of a contracting organization. All of them were detained in procedural order.
According to the police, contracts for 11.6 million hryvnias were concluded for the repair, the contractor was supposed to replace windows, doors and repair bedrooms. “For the purpose of appropriating a part of the budget funds, inaccurate information about the volumes of the actually performed works, as well as indicating inflated prices for the purchased construction materials, was entered into the acts of completed works. All participants of the contract signed the documents, the contractor received money to his accounts, which was then distributed among all. The amount of the damage was almost UAH 4 million,” the National Police said in a statement.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 announced the suspicion of members of an organized criminal group. They are charged with part 3 of Art. 28, Part 2 of Art. 364 (abuse of official position) and Part 1 of Art. 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Precautionary measures were chosen for the suspects: three – detention with the right to post a bail of UAH 3.8 million for each, another – night house arrest. The maximum penalty for the offense is up to six years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.
Earlier, the Dnipro district prosecutor’s office of the city of Kyiv reported the suspicion to the deputy head of the administration of the “Kyivzelenbud” KO, the director of the private company and the estimator of the communal association.
We will remind, new searches were conducted in the premises of the KMDA. They are carried out on the basis of the decision of the Pechersk District Court.
Investigators of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region conducted a search in the Department of Social and Veteran Policy of the KMDA as part of criminal proceedings.
