In Kyiv, there was a significant increase in the number of National Police patrols – by 30%.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, said that now more than 1,200 police officers are on duty every day, forming more than 450 patrols.
“Currently, more than 1,200 policemen are on duty as part of more than 450 patrols. The policemen have loudspeakers and, additionally, during patrols, they announce to people the opportunity to warm up in invincibility points or inform about an air alert,” the minister is quoted in the telegram channel of the National Police of Ukraine.
These units not only control order, but also regulate the movement of cars at intersections where there are no traffic lights and provide assistance to local residents.
Klimenko also noted that police officers use loudspeakers to inform citizens about the possibility of visiting heating points and about air alarms.
Key objects of critical infrastructure, as well as places of liquidation of the consequences of shelling, remain under special police protection.
Despite the change in curfew rules and increased activity on the streets, there are currently no spikes in crime.
Since January 17, updated curfew rules have been introduced in the capital, which provide for a number of important exceptions for Kyiv residents.
