The police officers of the Holosiiv police department completed the investigation and submitted to the court an indictment against two residents of Kyiv and the region, who for several months defrauded citizens by selling non-existent goods.
This is reported by the Kyiv police.
According to the investigation, two residents of Kyiv and the region, aged 18 and 24, were involved in the fraud.
Dealers took advantage of the demand for charging stations due to power outages by creating fake ads on popular online sites. They corresponded with potential buyers in messengers and convinced them to make a full or partial prepayment for the “goods”. After receiving the money, the accused stopped any contact with the buyers and disposed of the funds at their own discretion.
14 residents of Kyiv and other regions became victims of fraudsters, who lost from 3.5 to 40 thousand hryvnias each. In general, the amount of damages caused to citizens reaches about UAH 600,000. The largest recorded payment within the episodes was UAH 315,000.
The investigators informed the dealers about the suspicion under part 3 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud). The indictment has been sent to the court, the accused faces up to 5 years in prison.
Recently, law enforcement officers stopped the activity of 14 fraudulent call centers that operated in Kyiv, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia, Rivne, and Cherkasy regions.
