The law enforcement officers announced suspicion against the officials of the Kropyvnytskyi City Council and the utility company due to the purchase of buses with multimillion-dollar losses for the community budget. It is about possible abuses when purchasing public transport.

Among the suspects are the head of one of the departments of the city council, the director of a utility company and two employees of the same company. All those involved are charged with abuse of office, committed as part of an organized group.
According to the investigation, in 2024 a contract was signed with a private company for the supply of 10 buses with a large passenger capacity for the needs of the community. At the same time, as the law enforcement officers established, the transport was purchased at an inflated cost, although similar buses could be purchased from another supplier at a much lower price.
As a result of such actions, according to the investigation, losses during the procurement amounted to more than UAH 11.7 million.
So far, all four involved have been notified of the suspicion. The sanction of the article against which they are indicted provides up to six years of imprisonment, additionally – deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, as well as a fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office, together with the State Security Bureau, exposed a large-scale corruption scheme in the field of defense procurement, related to the supply of unusable mines and the appropriation of budget funds.
