In the Kharkiv Region, the Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained another agent of the Russian military intelligence (better known as the GRU). The intruder gave the occupiers coordinates for an assault on the positions of the Defense Forces in the Kupyansk direction.

According to the investigation, the task of the enemy was carried out by a Kharkiv IT specialist, who already has a criminal record for cooperation with the Russians at the beginning of a full-scale war. At that time, the person involved lived in the Kupyan district and during the period of his capture in the summer of 2022, he joined the occupation administration of the Russian Federation. There he “set up and administered the computer network of the pseudo-institution.”
After the release of the community, the collaborator moved to the regional center, where he hoped to “hide” among the residents of the city and avoid justice. In 2022, the SBU and the National Police detained the suspect, but the court sentenced him to a sentence that did not include prison terms.
In the autumn of this year, the occupiers remotely re-established contact with him and instructed him to monitor the positions of Ukrainian troops fighting for Kupyansk.
“To perform this task, the person involved traveled around the area near the front line, secretly recorded the locations of the Defense Forces and handed them over to the enemy. For the conspiracy, the agent used the legend of alleged “trips to relatives” who lived in the front-line territory,” the report says.
SBU counter-intelligence exposed and documented the crimes of the recidivist, and at the final stage of the special operation detained him. During the search of the detainee’s apartment and the country house of his relatives, a smartphone with evidence of work for the “Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Federation”, Russian-style uniforms and a self-made flag of the aggressor country were seized.
Investigators of the SBU informed the accused about the suspicion of treason committed under martial law.
Currently, the perpetrator is in custody without bail, he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
