The prosecutor filed an appeal and insisted that Tatali be sentenced to death. The musician’s story began in 2018, when he left Iran and moved to Istanbul, Turkey.
In December 2023, Turkish law enforcement authorities deported Tatala back to Iran. There, after extradition, he was immediately detained by law enforcement officers, and since then he has been in custody. The case was reopened and the executor was sentenced accordingly. It states that the Iranian star was convicted for “insulting the Prophet Muhammad.”
