In Greece, on Saturday, November 23, unknown people with communist symbols tried to disrupt the event of the Ukrainian community to commemorate the Holodomor victims.
This was announced on his Facebook page by the priest of the Ukrainian Church Community of St. Nicholas UGCC in Greece Ihor Posolenyk.
As stated in the message, the incident happened in the city of Mandra near the monument to Taras Shevchenko.
“A group of aggressive people under communist flags and slogans attacked Ukrainians, among whom a large number were women and children of Ukrainian schools and associations… According to the testimony of the participants, the attackers, armed with communist symbols, blocked access to the monument and also resorted to aggressive actions. There were insults and threats,” the Ambassador said.
As you can see from the video, unknown people tried to start fights and used pyrotechnics.

The ambassador added that a representative of the Ukrainian embassy in Greece was injured as a result of the actions of people with communist flags.
“This case came as a shock to the community, especially considering that the attack took place at an event that was supposed to emphasize the importance of remembering the tragedies of the past,” the priest added.
Later, on the Facebook page of the Embassy of Ukraine in Greece, they confirmed the incident and stated that they are expressing their opinion “resolute protest against violent and provocative actions.” They said that the attackers were members of the Communist Party of Greece. They also confirmed that a Ukrainian diplomat was injured.
“The embassy strongly condemns the shameful disruption of the commemorative event, which has deep historical and emotional significance for the Ukrainian people. This provocation, which culminated in physical attacks — including an attack on a Ukrainian diplomat who was injured — is completely unacceptable and constitutes a flagrant violation of international norms protecting diplomatic personnel,” their statement said.
