Details: According to the investigation, in August 2022, Dornau used a scheme to circumvent the European embargo, indicating Kazakhstan as the destination country for the telehandler. In fact, the equipment was exported to Belarus, which is a direct violation of the Trade and Payments Act (Außenwirtschaftsgesetz, AWG).

The police detained the politician directly in the premises of the Landtag of Saxony immediately after the parliament stripped him of his parliamentary immunity. Law enforcement officers searched his offices, residential buildings and cars in the city of Ryota.
The deputy himself refuses to comment on the accusations, and his party associates call the investigation “politically motivated.”
Prehistory:
- Dornau has close business ties with the regime of Oleksandr Lukashenka and owns the agricultural enterprise “Tsybulka-Bel” in the Lida district of Belarus. Earlier, journalists found out that Belarusian political prisoners worked on his onion plantations.
- In August 2024, the Saxon parliament fined Dornau in the amount of more than 20 thousand euros for hiding information about business in Belarus.
