Georgian activist Natia Dzidziguri said she was sexually harassed by the police after being detained at a protest in Tbilisi, reports UNN with reference to News Georgia.

It is about a rally demanding the appointment of new parliamentary elections on November 19. At dawn, the police began dispersing the tent camp on Chavchavadze Avenue. Protesters report that excessive force was used against them, and several demonstrators had to be hospitalized.

“My arrest happened very unexpectedly. I was on the sidewalk when I saw one guy, Rezi Dumbadze, being dragged into a car. He was being pulled by the hair, ten policemen were pulling him behind. As soon as I saw all this, it passed, I approached the policeman and said : do not delay.

One of the policemen, who was very aggressive towards me before the arrest, as soon as he saw me, immediately went to the mat, cursed me and put me in the arresting car. In the car, the police sexually harassed me,” Dzidziguri said on the air of the “17th Floor” program on the Formula TV channel.

According to the activist, she spent the entire way to the department on her knees in the car, and the police treated her humiliatingly.

“I asked to be put in a chair, said that we were moving in violation of the rules. To this came the reply: “Can you still be buckled up?”… I stood on my knees the whole way and that’s how they transported me,” says the young woman.

Dzidziguri claims that the protocol against her was drawn up with violations as well. The document states that the arrest was carried out by a female patrol police inspector, although, as the activist says, the arrest was actually made by one of the heads of the Department on special assignments.

“I can identify all the persons. I can also recognize the policeman who detained me,” Dzidziguri said.

The statement has not yet been commented on by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia or the Special Investigation Service. The latter is conducting a case based on the facts of a possible excess of force by the police during the dispersal of the action. Dzidziguri did not specify whether she was summoned for questioning as part of the investigation.

In total, on November 19, the police detained 16 people. A criminal case was opened against one of them, 21-year-old Mate Davide. He is accused of assaulting police officers.
