In Ivano-Frankivsk, the required number of signatures was given an electronic petition in which the locals urge the city council to withdraw their appeal to the Verkhovna Rada to ban abortion.
The petition authors believe that the initiative of the deputies violates the fundamental rights of women – to health care, privacy and free choice, as well as contradicts the current Ukrainian legislation and the international obligations of Ukraine.
The petition states: “We demand to withdraw the appeals of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council to ban abortion. We consider this appeal to violate the basic rights of women. Abortion is a medical service guaranteed by Ukrainian legislation and Ukraine’s international obligations. ”
We will remind, the deputies of the French Parliament approved the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron to bring to the basic law of the country “guaranteed freedom” on abortion.
We also reported that the MEPs of the European Parliament have approved a resolution calling to the EU Council to add sexual and reproductive health and the right to a safe and legal abortion to the Charter of Fundamental EU Rights.
