Dmytro Petlin, the head of the Donetsk OVA department, said that currently 21 communities of the region are classified as active hostilities. In total, 187,000 residents, including more than 12,000 children, remain in the controlled territory of the region.
Petlin said this at an online briefing, Ukrinform reports.
At the same time, the scale of evacuation since the beginning of the full-scale invasion is colossal: more than 1.3 million people, including more than 203,000 children and 47,000 people with disabilities, have left the dangerous areas. In the past week alone, another 3,640 people moved to safer regions.
The situation remains critical due to constant shelling carried out by Russia, purposefully destroying the residential sector and the infrastructure of cities. Despite the threat to life, part of the population still remains in front-line settlements, which greatly complicates the work of rescue services and the logistics of humanitarian aid. Aggressive actions carried out by the Russian Federation force local authorities to coordinate evacuation flights every day to take people out of dangerous areas. In some communities, such as Druzhkivka, the situation with children is under special control of law enforcement officers and social services.
Given the constant pressure exerted by Russia in the east of the country, evacuation remains the only reliable way to save the lives of the civilian population. Each emigrating family receives support from the state in resettlement and registration of social benefits. Representatives of the regional administration urge residents not to neglect their safety, as the Russian Federation does not stop terrorist attacks on civilian objects. Organized outings continue daily, providing the minimum necessary conditions for adaptation in new places.
Previously, mandatory evacuation of children and their parents from 19 settlements was introduced in the Donetsk region.
Prior to this, the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine (Ministry of Development) announced the beginning of forced evacuation of children with their parents from dangerous areas of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine reported that mandatory evacuation of children together with their parents or legal representatives has been agreed upon from a number of settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
In Kharkiv region announced compulsory evacuation of families with children from the village of Odnorobivka.
