After the arrival of the investigative and operational team and specialists of the explosives service of the State Police, a second controlled detonation took place. Over the course of the day, the law enforcement officers established that a minor immigrant from Sumy, who temporarily lived in Kyiv and was looking for a quick way to earn money, was involved in the crime.
SBU photo“Through the Telegram channel, he got in touch with representatives of the Russian special services, from whom he received instructions and coordinates of the object in Dnipro. The minor purchased components for the manufacture of explosive devices, disguised them as fire extinguishers, equipped them for remote detonation and installed them near the designated place,” the police said.
The SBU clarified that the guy installed the SVP near the Ukrzaliznytsia facility. He also placed a camera near the site of the planned terrorist attack so that the Russians could monitor everything.
After committing the crime, the young man returned to the capital, where he was immediately detained.
“Investigators…notified the suspect of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (a terrorist act that resulted in the death of a person). The minor faces up to 15 years in prison,” the SBU concluded.
