In Cherkasy, the police detained a man who opened fire at a public transport stop. Now he faces three to seven years in prison.

The incident happened the day before, January 25, around 9:00 p.m. near the park on Peremohy Avenue. Eyewitnesses reported the shooting to the police. The perpetrator was searched for and detained by a patrol police outfit near the crime scene.
According to the police, at the bus stop there was a conflict between the detainee and a woman and a man who were standing there.
“The 53-year-old suspect decided to deal with the conflict with a weapon and shot a 23-year-old man and hit a 35-year-old woman on the head with the handle of the gun. The injured were taken to the hospital by an ambulance,” the police said.
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility.
“Investigators of the Cherkasy District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under 4 Art. 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, under the procedural leadership of the Cherkasy District Prosecutor’s Office, the issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion and selecting a preventive measure for him is being resolved,” the message says.
The man faces from three to seven years in prison for the crime. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, there was a shooting in one of the shops in Cherkassy – a woman pulled out a revolver and opened fire indiscriminately. The buyers tortured her and handed her over to the law enforcement officers.
