Immediately after Trump’s inauguration, Ukraine will get “an additional chance to bring a just peace closer” – Sybig

Immediately after the inauguration of the 47th President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, “Ukraine will get an additional chance to bring a just peace closer,” noted Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga during a public discussion, the text of which is provided by LB.ua.

The minister was asked whether he personally believes that peace will come to Ukraine on January 21. As you know, January 21 will be the day after the inauguration of Trump, who during the election campaign promised to end the war between Russia and Ukraine “within 24 hours.”

In response, Sybiga made it clear that “this is not a simple issue” and noted that he sees “an additional chance” for peace.

“I am convinced that we will get an additional chance, additional opportunities to bring a just peace for Ukraine closer.” I am convinced of this,” said the minister.

Sybiga also commented on the peace proposals appearing in the media allegedly as “action options” of the future US president regarding Ukraine. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that “official proposals may appear only after January 20.”

“As of now, it is necessary to treat any documents, non-papers, ideas voiced by different voices in different media without unnecessary emotions. Here we can rely on the fact that this is a test of the reaction of both the world and Ukraine,” the minister said.

Earlier, on December 7, Trump met with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the President of France Emmanuel Macron in Paris. Commenting on this meeting, Trump emphasized the need to end the war as soon as possible, and Zelenskyi spoke of “peace through strength.”

“This (war) cannot be ended simply with a piece of paper and a few signatures. And the suspended fire without guarantees can be rekindled at any moment, as Putin has already done. In order to guarantee that there will be no more losses of Ukrainian men and women, it is necessary to guarantee the reliability of peace and not to turn a blind eye to the occupation,” said the President of Ukraine.
