Over 20 minutes of Like a Dragon: Yakuza pirate in Hawaii gameplay appeared online / Photo – SEGAAt the Tokyo Game Show 2024, IGN journalists managed to play the new Like a Dragon: Yakuza pirate in Hawaii. The publication was allowed to record the gameplay of the new part of the series.IGN published two videos with recordings of the gameplay demonstration, the total time of which was 23 minutes. In the first video, Horo Majima is walking along the Honolulu beach with his friends: the boy Noah and his father Jason. The journalist who made the recording notes that the demo version does not make it clear at what point in the plot the events take place and how they will unfold further.
Majima was approached by bandits on the beach, and here the IGN employee had the opportunity to test the combat system. Unlike the last game in the series, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the action here is done in real time. Horo has two fighting styles: Mad Dog and Sea Dog. The first allows the hero to fight in hand-to-hand combat, using techniques and tricks typical of a member of the Yakuza, and the second reflects the pirate side of the adventure, in which Horo wields two sabers and a silicon pistol. You can switch between styles right during the fight with one click on the crosshairs.
SEGA also offered to try additional activities classic for the series. The video included karting, buying clothes for the character, as well as karaoke. The journalist noted that long-time fans of the series will definitely recognize some of the songs that Majima can sing.
An employee of IGN was a little disappointed that the demo did not show ship battles, although they did give access to Madlantis, a new location that is a graveyard of ships inhabited by pirates.
In Like a Dragon: Yakuza pirate in Hawaii, the main character will be Horo Majima for the first time in the series. Shimano’s dog lost his memory in Hawaii after the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Now Majima is trying to become the king of the pirates and regain his memories at the same time.
Like a Dragon: Yakuza pirate in Hawaii is scheduled for release on February 28. The game will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
We will remind that at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, the story trailer of the new Life is Strange was also shown. The game will once again tell the story of Max Coldfield, the main character of the first part.
