βPolka made a championship speech after victory over Anisimova in Wimbledon’s finalsβ, – WRITE: Sport.ua
– Huge greetings, IGA. Today you looked unrestrained. You became the first Polish tennis player to win Wimbledon in a single discharge. What does it mean to you and what does it mean to your country?
– Honestly, I do not know yet, because everything seems absolutely unrealistic. But first of all, I want to congratulate Amanda on the stunning two weeks. It doesn’t matter what happened in the finale today, you should be proud of the work done, and I hope that we will play in the finals again, here and in other tournaments. You have a game for that. So I also congratulate your team.
– How long have you dreamed of this moment?
– Honestly? I didn’t even dream because it seemed absolutely unattainable for me. I feel a very experienced athlete, especially after winning in other Grand Slam tournaments, but I did not expect this victory specifically. So I want to thank my team. It seems to me that they believed more than I as myself.
And I want to thank my coach who joined this year. Despite the ups and falls, now we have proven that everything is working. I also thank the team that has been with me for many years. Without you I would have achieved nothing. Your belief in me, constant support and how we know each other well is the best that the player can be. Thank you.
I want to thank everyone who makes this tournament so unique because there is no other. Earlier I always felt, I do not know … anxiety, because just to stay here, to go to the central court – it was a huge pressure, even a little excessive. But this year I really got fun. I feel that my game has improved so much that I feel confident here. Thank you all. I thank the staff, the organizers of the tournament for helping us to play at the best tournament.
And, of course, my sponsors, everyone who supports me at home. And finally, thank you, the audience who came, who became part of this stunning event. I will always remember how the champagne bottles were opened between the feeds. This sound will probably not let me sleep at night. It’s stunning. I’m going to enjoy these moments and hope you enjoy tomorrow’s male finale. Before the meeting next year, – said Iga.
Swontek defeated Anisimov with a score of 6: 0, 6: 0. The IGA won the Trophy Wimbledon for the first time and won Major.
