“I haven’t seen Leila much.” Starodubtseva – about the opening match at the Australian Open

Yulia Starodubtseva is waiting for an interesting match”, — write: sport.ua

Ukrainian tennis player Julia Starodubtseva shared her expectations from the opening match at the Australian Open.

– In the first round you have Leila Fernandez, who warmed up well at the United Cup and in Adelaide. What can you say about her game and how do you rate this draw for yourself?

– In fact, all the players in the main draw of the Australian Open are not easy. If they got here, they definitely know how to play. I haven’t seen much of Leila Fernandez and know a little about her, but we’ve already watched a few of her matches, we’re getting ready. She’s a shul and it’s a good thing that my coach is also a shul (laughs).

– You were preparing for the AO together with Nadiya Kichenok, who plays with Leila Fernandez as a couple in Australia. Maybe Nadia has already shared life hacks on how to beat her?

– Yes, Nadia is in a serious situation, she doesn’t know who to root for (laughs). Just kidding, of course she knows who to cheer for, she just can’t do it publicly unfortunately, but she cheers for the right people (laughs). I didn’t ask Nadia for secrets about Leila’s game, I think it’s not very correct.

– The last question about your team: has someone new appeared in it in 2025?

– Here with me is a fitness trainer who worked with me during the pre-season and my boyfriend Piers, who continues to work with me as a tennis coach – Yulia said.

It is known on which days Ukrainian tennis players will start matches at Aus Open 2025
