Hispanic Carlos Alcaraz (ATP 3), spoke about the poor health that prevented him from performing at his best at the start of the ATP Finals 2024. In his first match at the tournament, he was defeated by the Norwegian Casper Ruud (ATP 7).

“A few days before coming here, I got sick at home. When I trained in Turin, I felt good. Not very good, but it will go. I could play, hang in the draws. In matches, obviously, everything is different.”

“But today I felt sick. In the morning I had an unpleasant feeling in my stomach. You know, I don’t want to talk too much about it because I don’t want it to be an excuse. But if I feel bad, it’s bad,” Alcaraz said at the press conference after the match.

Earlier it became known that Carlos fell ill with a cold before the start of the Final Tournament.
