“I can’t run.” The ex-first racket will not play at AO-2025. When will he return?

The 32-year-old former number one racket of the world Karolina Plishkova (WTA 41) will not play at the 2025 Australian Open, which will be held in Melbourne from January 12-26.

“I played anyway [зі старту 2024]but on injections. The load turned out to be too strong, in New York I twisted my leg – and that was it. I tore two tendons and had to have surgery.

The infection started twice, I was given two antibiotics. The situation was not developing very well. It took a long time for everything to heal.

I can’t run yet, and I’m a long way from playing tennis. I don’t want to force it. I already made a mistake with an arm injury: I played with pain for a month and a half and didn’t win anything. It doesn’t make any sense. So I’ll take advantage of the protected rating and hopefully come back in March for Indian Wells and Miami. Unless, of course, there is another regression.

I would like the fans to see me again. I don’t want to finish with an injury or just survive on the court. I want to come back normally and play some more. The plus is that other parts of the body rested, for example, the wrists, with which I had problems.”

In late August 2024, Karolina was injured in a US Open second round match against Jasmine Paolini. The Czech Republic stopped fighting already in the opening game, injuring her leg in one of the first draws. At the beginning of September, she underwent an operation on her left leg.
