“I am alive. The leg was cut off”: journalist Georgy Ivanchenko told about the injuries and death of a colleague

Ukrainian journalist and photographer Georgy Ivanchenko spoke about the wounds obtained as a result of Russian shelling while working in Donetsk region, and the death of his colleague – French photo resumption Antone Lallikan.

The journalist posted the first post after injury on Facebook.

“It was a sight of FPV drone. I’m alive. The leg was cut off. The closest friend, brother and teacher, Anthony Lallican, dead.

Our business trips were unique. You were unique. It hurts me because it happened, and I sympathize with all my family and loved ones ”, – Ivanchenko wrote.

The journalist thanked the doctors, friends and relatives for their help during surgery and rehabilitation.

We will remind, the Russians hit the FPV-aternal on journalists in Donetsk region on October 2.

French photojournalist Antone Lallican has worked in Ukraine since 2022. He was on a business trip for Hans Lucas.

Both mediamen were on protective equipment labeled “Press” and worked accompanied by a presenter.

Lallican documented the consequences of war and the lives of people in Donetsk. In 2024 he received the Victor Hugo Prize for the report “and suddenly the sky darkened …”, dedicated to Ukraine.

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine expressed their condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased. The European and International Federations of Journalists (EFJ, IFJ) condemned the murder and called on investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Antoni Lallican (38 years) was published in Le Monde, Le Figaro, Libération, Mediapart, Der Spiegel, Die Welt, Le Temps and other leading European media. He came to the photo report at the age of 30, starting with the documentation of protests in France, Hong Kong and India, and later the shooting in the war zones.
